When celebrated courtroom illustrator Elizabeth Williams stepped into my Manhattan studio, our session naturally evolved into a masterclass of artistic reportage. Known for capturing the raw intensity of history’s most prominent trials for the Associated Press, Elizabeth’s work is famously preserved in the Library of Congress. After capturing her signature, commanding presence in this portrait, she turned the tables. Inspired by the energy of the shoot, she asked for a pen and live-sketched photographing her. That’s the Beyda Technique in action: listen, share, laugh, and capture what’s real together.

My studio is ideally located in Midtown—just steps from Times Square, Port Authority, and Bryant Park. I understand the New York pace, which is why I offer 20-minute sessions as early as 8:00 AM. If you’re coming through Grand Central or Port Authority, you can get in, get a world-class headshot, and get to work without skipping a beat.

Over 20+ years, I’ve developed an easy, efficient process. We greet, we schmooze for a quick minute to find your energy, and then we shoot. I’ll take plenty of photos to ensure we capture the variety you need. We’ll preview the images together to make sure you see the beauty and expression required to move forward. While I never force a choice on the spot—unless an urgent announcement dictates it—I always encourage people to take a few more shots once they’ve seen the previews. Why? Because once you see that I’m on your side, that I’m competent, and that we’re doing a great job, you truly relax. Those ‘post-preview’ shots are often the best of the day.

You’ll leave the studio knowing we have exactly what you need, with proofs delivered to your inbox in a super-timely way—usually that same evening. When I arrive, it’s not a ‘big to-do.’ My setup is quick and uncomplicated, which ensures I’m in and out without disrupting the office.

Whether I’m shooting one lateral attorney or banker, a small team, or a cohort of 1st-year associates, I bring that same efficiency. Even when I’m shooting 20 to 30 people in a single day, I never ‘snap and run.’ Even if we only have 10 or 15 minutes together, I give the same enthusiasm, personal connection, and sensitivity to every single person. Everyone gets a digital preview and that signature positive energy to ensure they leave the chair feeling great.

Following the shoot, I provide individual, password-protected online galleries for each person. Once I’m provided with the favorites, I personally retouch each image to match the size, color tone, and cropping. I don’t just send files; I curate a harmonious and fantastic look for your entire website.
